Meeting Format

Welcome to the online Talking Heads Group of Alcoholics Anonymous. This is an open meeting. We are glad you are all here – especially newcomers. In keeping with our singleness of purpose and our Third Tradition which states that “The only requirement for A.A. membership is a desire to stop drinking,” we ask that all who participate confine their discussion to their problems with alcoholism. If you have used drugs or alcohol in the last 24 hours, please refrain from sharing. We would like to hear from you, not the alcohol.

My name is __________________, and I am an alcoholic.

Can we have a moment of silence, followed by the “Serenity Prayer”:

“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”

The A.A. Preamble:

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Welcome! Are there any newcomers with 30 days or less? So, we may get to know you, please give us your first name only. Is anyone from other groups or out of town who would like to be recognized?

If you need meeting attendance verification, please send me a "private" chat with your name and email address and I will take care of you towards the end of the meeting.
